The F-2 Department conducts basic and applied research in low- and medium-energy physics. Low-energy physics accounts for our atomic physics research, while the part of nuclear physics studied at the department can be classified as intermediate-energy physics. The third research field of the department is radiological environmental protection, wich involves monitoring nuclear objects and environmental radioactivity. The department also operates the Ecological Laboratory with Mobile Unit as a specialized Civil Protection unit.
